Targeted internet traffic can be produced through many methods. Pay Per Click (PPC) is an easy method to jump start the process for many website owners. Many of the other methods that bring targeted internet traffic are considered long term strategies which could mean it could take some time for you to start to see the benefits from those methods. Some of those include video marketing, article marketing, press releases and many others. They are great methods to use for targeted internet traffic. They essentially involve getting your content listed on search engines for keyword phrases that would be best for your audience.
They have great advantages. They are free to do and they will bring you long term targeted internet traffic if done correctly. However, most website owners don’t have the 6-9 months it may take to start to reap the results of that type of advertising but still want targeted internet traffic. In that case I encourage site owners to use Pay Per Click advertising.
You can find PPC advertising with most any search engine and it’s a great method for targeted internet traffic, but I do recommend if you are a small business owner to stay away from Google AdWords. It’s not worth the price anymore. You can use these same strategies and get great results with some other major search engines. I prefer to use Yahoo and Bing. They will still bring you the targeted internet traffic that you need.
So how do I get started using PPC for targeted internet traffic?
Here are some tips to get your started with PPC or some ideas on how to modify your PPC strategy to bring targeted internet traffic to your site on any budget.
1. Spend a little time on your ad. The ad is what will bring the targeted internet traffic in this example. Chances are the ad you create can fit into quite a few of your adgroups with a little modification. The headline is the most important part of that ad. Make it as relevant to the keyword phrase your prospect is searching for.
2. If it’s possible make sure the keyword phrase or phrases you are targeted appear exactly in the ad as they are searched for. This will improve your ads quality score and ensure that your ad is shown more than a competitor bidding the same amount for a certain keyword phrase. The search engine will find your ad more relevant and want to give their search engine users the most relevant content they can.
3. Think outside the box when coming up with possible keyword phrases. The more specific the better. Try to stick with keyword that are at LEAST two words three is even better. That is what will bring you targeted internet traffic.
4. Know what type of search you are bidding on – never bid on what is called a broad search. This means your prospect typed your keyword phrase into a search engine but maybe not the order that you are looking for. Using the phrase option, this will make sure your prospect is looking for your keyword phrase in the order that you have listed it in. This will ensure much more targeted internet traffic. This tip is very important. It can bring you the wrong prospect if you do not adhere to it.
5. If you want to stay on a tight budget really break down some possible target markets that would be perfect for your product. You can use the Google keyword tool to see exactly what those people are searching for by targeting phrases that are a little less popular but still searched for you can save yourself a lot of money and still get the targeted internet traffic you are looking for.
6. Brainstorm – You PPC campaigns can literally be endless! When you are feeling creative brain storm possible target markets for your product or service before you even start doing keyword research. If you are new to PPC I always recommend that you have at least 50 pretty targeted ideas before you even begin your research.
7. Be smarter than the system – When you are entering your ad in a search engine for PPC many times they will give you suggestions of keyword phrases to add to your campaign. Never use them. 9 times out of 10 they have nothing to do with what you have to offer and will not bring you the targeted internet traffic you are looking for.
8. Capitalize on misspellings – When you are doing your keyword research keep in mind some common spelling mistakes and take advantage of them. People still search for them but very few marketers think to target them and bid on them. An example would be “strategies” instead of “strategies”.
9. Position – While being the first ad on a search engine is great as long as you can stay between position 1-4 you will get targeted internet traffic. As you go back and check ad positions there may be keywords you want to raise your bid on because they are worth spending a few more cents but you will also find some keyword phrases that just aren’t worth the price and dump them.
10. Most Important Never Stop- With brainstorming ideas and following up with some continued keyword research you will find that there are always either new audiences to focus on and generate targeted internet traffic. If you are using those low cost phrases you can be building a PPC empire if you just commit to adding 10-15 adgroups a week. That’s targeted internet traffic coming in at a very low cost along with the other methods you are using. Every business owner needs a constant stream of prospects to be successful. Using this strategy you will be well on your way.
PPC marketing can be complicated but the good news is it’s not high risk. You only spend the amount of money you want to spend since you can set a daily limit on how much is spent. If you get to your daily budget your ads will simply stop displaying until the next day. It’s a great way to jump start your targeted internet traffic campaigns.
